The Constitution\u00a0came into force on\u00a0January 26, 1950.<\/li>\n<li>In 2015, the government decided to celebrate this day to promote constitutional values among citizens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Constituent Assembly (CA) of India<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Constituent Assembly (CA) was set up in 1946\u00a0under the Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946.<\/li>\n<li>The Assembly held its first meeting on December 9, 1946, and elected Dr. Sachhidanand Sinha, the oldest member of the Assembly, as the Provisional President.<\/li>\n<li>On December 11, 1946, the Assembly elected\u00a0Dr. Rajendra Prasad as its\u00a0permanent Chairman.<\/li>\n<li>The CA\u00a0took 3 years (1946-49)\u00a0to complete the drafting.<\/li>\n<li>The CA had 299\u00a0elected members from provincial legislative assemblies.<\/li>\n<li>The CA had\u00a013 committees,\u00a0including the\u00a0drafting committee headed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0Constitution was adopted in 1949 when 284 members signed it, marking the completion of the Constitution-making process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Interesting Facts about Indian Constitution<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the\u00a0world\u2019s longest: The original copy of the Indian Constitution is 251 pages long; it is the most detailed in the world.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0completely handwritten and designed.<\/li>\n<li>Sh. Prem Behari Narain Raizada, a master of calligraphic art,\u00a0singlehandedly handwrote the Constitution.<\/li>\n<li>Sh. Nand Lal Bose, a pioneer of modern Indian art, designed the borders of every page of the Constitution and\u00a0adorned it with art pieces.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0original manuscript of the Constitution\u00a0was written on parchment sheets measuring 16 X 22 inches,\u00a0having a lifespan of a thousand years.
