


{"id":17465,"date":"2023-11-27T06:04:48","date_gmt":"2023-11-27T00:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17465"},"modified":"2025-04-05T04:31:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T23:01:07","slug":"e-scr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/e-scr\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the electronic Supreme Court Reports (e-SCR) portal?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About e-SCR portal<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was an initiative\u00a0by the Supreme Court (SC) of India to\u00a0provide the digital version of the apex court&#8217;s judgments in the manner\u00a0as they are reported in the official law report.<\/li>\n<li>It provides\u00a0free access to about 34,000\u00a0judgements of the SC to lawyers, law students,\u00a0and the\u00a0common public.<\/li>\n<li>These verdicts will be\u00a0available on the apex\u00a0court website, its\u00a0mobile app, and on the judgment\u00a0portal of the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG).<\/li>\n<li>It is a\u00a0free service available for lawyers across the country.<\/li>\n<li>The Supreme Court has\u00a0developed a search engine\u00a0with the\u00a0help of the National Informatics Centre\u00a0comprising\u00a0elastic search technique\u00a0in the database of\u00a0e-SCR.<\/li>\n<li>The search facility in e-SCR\u00a0provides for free text search, search within search,\u00a0case type and case year search, judge search, year and volume search, and bench strength search options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) portal<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The NJDG portal is a\u00a0national repository of data relating to cases instituted, pending, and disposed of by the courts\u00a0across the length and breadth of\u00a0the country.<\/li>\n<li>In this portal, one may\u00a0access case-related information, statistics such as institution, pendency, and disposal of cases, case types, and the year-wise break-up of the Supreme Court of India.<\/li>\n<li>It is a database of orders, judgements, and\u00a0case details of 18,735 District &amp; Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online\u00a0platform\u00a0under the e-Courts Project.<\/li>\n<li>It has been\u00a0developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in close coordination with the in-house software development team of the Computer Cell, Registry with an interactive interface and analytics dashboard.<\/li>\n<li>The entire\u00a0database will be periodically updated on the NJDG portal.<\/li>\n<li>NJDG works as a\u00a0monitoring tool to identify, manage, &amp; reduce the pendency of cases.<\/li>\n<li>It helps to\u00a0provide timely inputs for making policy decisions to reduce delays in disposing of cases and reduce case pendency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the National Informatics Centre (NIC)?<\/h3>\n<p>National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is the technology partner of the Government of India. It was established in 1976 with an objective to provide technology-driven solutions to Central and State Governments in various aspects of development.
