{"id":17505,"date":"2023-11-28T09:56:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-28T04:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17505"},"modified":"2025-04-05T04:46:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T23:16:08","slug":"rythu-bandhu-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rythu-bandhu-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Rythu Bandhu Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Rythu Bandhu Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Rythu Bandhu scheme, also known as the\u00a0Farmer&#8217;s Investment Support Scheme (FISS), is a welfare programme for farmers started\u00a0by the Telangana government in 2018.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0objective of this scheme is twofold:\n<ul>\n<li>to provide a timely\u00a0cash grant for the initial investment needs of farmers<\/li>\n<li>to\u00a0ensure\u00a0that\u00a0farmers do not fall into the debt trap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per acre per farmer\u00a0each season is\u00a0directly transferred to each farmer&#8217;s account.<\/li>\n<li>This financial support was\u00a0distributed biannually, allocated for\u00a0both the kharif and rabi harvests.<\/li>\n<li>The assistance can be\u00a0used for the purchase of inputs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labour,\u00a0and other investments in the field operations of Farmer\u2019s choice for the crop season.<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility:\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme is open to\u00a0all resident farmers\u00a0in the state\u00a0who own land.<\/li>\n<li>Farmers cultivating the land\u00a0in the forest, a majority of them from Scheduled Tribe communities\u00a0and having a Record of Forest Rights (ROFR) document, are\u00a0also eligible to receive benefits under the scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is the\u00a0country&#8217;s first direct farmer investment support scheme where cash is paid directly to the beneficiary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are kharif and rabi crops?<\/h3>\n<p>In India, the agricultural calendar is marked by two primary cropping seasons known as Rabi and Kharif. Rabi crops, such as wheat and barley, are sown in the winter months, predominantly between October and December, and are later harvested in spring.
