{"id":17529,"date":"2023-11-29T03:32:06","date_gmt":"2023-11-28T22:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17529"},"modified":"2025-04-05T04:55:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T23:25:26","slug":"iso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/iso\/","title":{"rendered":"International Sugar Organisation (ISO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About International Sugar Organisation (ISO)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>ISO is an\u00a0inter-governmental body completely devoted\u00a0to improving conditions\u00a0on the\u00a0world sugar market.<\/li>\n<li>Its\u00a087 member states represent\u00a087% of global production, 64% of consumption, 92% of sugar exports, and 34% of sugar imports.<\/li>\n<li>ISO is\u00a0based in London.<\/li>\n<li>The ISO exists to\u00a0administer the internationally negotiated\u00a01992 International Sugar Agreement (ISA), the objectives of which are:\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>to ensure enhanced international cooperation in connection with world sugar matters and related issues.<\/li>\n<li>to\u00a0provide a forum for intergovernmental consultations on sugar and on ways to improve the world sugar economy.<\/li>\n<li>to\u00a0facilitate trade by collecting and providing information on the world sugar market and other sweeteners.<\/li>\n<li>to\u00a0encourage increased demand for sugar, particularly for non-traditional uses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To fulfill these objectives, the ISO\u00a0undertakes many distinct activities, including\u00a0workshops, seminars, and its long-established\u00a0and widely-recognized statistical and analytical work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Sugar?<\/h3>\n<p>The substance we know as sugar is sucrose, a molecule composed of 12 atoms of carbon, 22 atoms of hydrogen, and 11 atoms of oxygen (C12H22O11). Like all compounds made from these three elements, sugar is a carbohydrate.
