{"id":17601,"date":"2023-11-30T10:17:55","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T04:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17601"},"modified":"2025-04-05T05:24:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T23:54:28","slug":"xposat-upsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/xposat-upsc\/","title":{"rendered":"X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is India\u2019s first\u00a0dedicated polarimetry mission to study various dynamics of bright astronomical X-ray sources in extreme conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Aim: It is aiming to investigate the\u00a0polarisation of intense X-Ray sources.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The spacecraft will carry two scientific payloads in a low earth orbit.\n<ul>\n<li>POLIX\u00a0(Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays): It will measure the polarimetry parameters (degree and angle of polarization) in medium X-ray energy range of 8-30 keV\u00a0photons of astronomical origin.<\/li>\n<li>XSPECT\u00a0(X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing) payload: It will give spectroscopic information in the energy range of 0.8-15 keV.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is designated for\u00a0observation from Low Earth Orbit (non-sun synchronous orbit of ~650 km altitude, low inclination of approximately six degree).<\/li>\n<li>The mission life is expected to be\u00a0approximately five years.<\/li>\n<li>The payloads onboard XPoSat will observe the X-Ray sources during the spacecraft\u2019s transit\u00a0through the Earth\u2019s shadow, i.e., during the eclipse period.<\/li>\n<li>It will be\u00a0launched by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is\u00a0Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) ?<\/h3>\n<p>IXPE is an international collaboration between NASA and the Italian Space Agency.
