{"id":17714,"date":"2025-11-19T11:58:45","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T06:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17714"},"modified":"2025-11-19T14:43:45","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T09:13:45","slug":"lead-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/lead-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Leadership Group for Industry Transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Leadership Group for Industry Transition Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change addressed the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) Industry Leaders\u2019 Roundtable, during UNFCCC CoP30 at Bel\u00e9m, Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Leadership Group for Industry Transition<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>jointly launched<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the governments of <\/span><b>Sweden and India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is supported by the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\">World Economic Forum<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was the first global high level initiative aimed at reaching <\/span><b>net zero emissions from heavy industry.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It gathers countries and companies that are committed to reaching net-zero carbon <\/span><b>emissions from industry by 2050.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeadIT <\/span><b>fosters public and private partnerships<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enable the necessary <\/span><b>policy environment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>finance flows<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and exchange of best practice for a just and inclusive industry transition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>LeadIT 2.0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was initiated for the period 2024-26, at <\/span><b>COP-28 in Dubai which <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">focus on<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inclusive &amp; Just Industry Transition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-development &amp; transfer of low-carbon technology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financial support to emerging economies for Industry Transition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeadIT\u2019s <\/span><b>three-year Mission Statement,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adopted at the annual <\/span><b>LeadITSummit at COP28.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Secretariat:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is hosted by the <\/span><b>Stockholm Environment Institute.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Member countries:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 18 countries and 27 companies<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2191066\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Leadership Group for Industry Transition was jointly launched by the governments of Sweden and India at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019.
