{"id":17773,"date":"2025-09-30T11:58:50","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T06:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17773"},"modified":"2025-09-30T15:00:37","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T09:30:37","slug":"national-crime-records-bureau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-crime-records-bureau\/","title":{"rendered":"National Crime Records Bureau"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Crime Records Bureau Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), crimes against Scheduled Tribes (STs) increased 28.8 per cent in 2023 as compared to the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Crime Records Bureau<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in 1986 to<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> act as a repository of information on <\/span><b>crime and criminals.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was set up based on the <\/span><b>recommendations of the Tandon Committee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the National Police Commission (1977-1981) and the Task Force of the Home Ministry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comes under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Home Affairs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MHA), Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> New Delhi<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of National Crime Records Bureau<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is responsible for <\/span><b>collecting and analysing crime data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as serving as a repository of such information to aid investigators in tracing crimes and criminals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring, coordination, and implementing the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/crime-and-criminal-tracking-networks-and-systems-cctns\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CCTNS) project.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the <\/span><b>National Digital Police Portal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">police officers\u00a0 look for a criminal or suspect on the CCTNS database and give citizens with services such as online complaint filing, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bureau has also been entrusted to maintain the <\/span><b>National Database of Sexual Offenders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NDSO) and share it with the States\/UTs on a regular basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCRB has also been designated as the Central Nodal Agency to manage the technical and operational functions of the <\/span><b>\u2018Online Cyber-Crime Reporting Portal\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through which any citizen can lodge a complaint or upload a video clip as evidence of crime related to child pornography, rape\/gang rape.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NCRB has also <\/span><b>launched CyTrain<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a portal for online training of different stakeholders in cybercrime investigations and prosecution.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Central Finger Print Bureau<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the NCRB is a national repository of all fingerprints in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCRB also compiles and publishes National Crime Statistics i.e. Crime in India, Accidental Deaths &amp; Suicides, and also Prison Statistics.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/29-per-cent-jump-in-crimes-against-sts-manipur-tops-list-ncrb-data-10279237\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Crime Records Bureau was established in 1986 to act as a repository of information on crime and criminals.
