{"id":17805,"date":"2023-12-05T12:17:22","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T06:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17805"},"modified":"2025-04-05T06:45:42","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T01:15:42","slug":"climate-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/climate-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Climate Club<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is\u00a0led by Germany and Chile, the Club has garnered support\u00a0from 36 member countries including Kenya, the European Union, Switzerland and others.<\/li>\n<li>It aims to make\u00a0decarbonisation of industries successful for climate and businesses, through ambitious policies, alignment of methodologies and standards and improving finance and assistance for emerging and developed economies.<\/li>\n<li>The activities of the club are divided into\u00a0three key pillars:-\n<ul>\n<li>Pillar 1: Advancing ambitious and transparent climate change mitigation policies.<\/li>\n<li>Pillar 2: Transforming industries<\/li>\n<li>Pillar 3: Boosting international cooperation and partnership\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Two co-chairs will be elected for\u00a0two-year terms for the Club. Currently, Germany and Chile serve as the co-chairs.<\/li>\n<li>A body of members will determine the scope and approve the work programme, budget and amendments.<\/li>\n<li>Furthermore,\u00a0a steering group will be formed to support the body of members when\u00a0the Club reaches 40 members.<\/li>\n<li>A secretariat\u00a0will be formed to implement the work program.<\/li>\n<li>Currently,\u00a0Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and\u00a0International Energy Agency\u00a0are the joint interim heads of secretariat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)?<\/h3>\n<p>It is an international organisation of 38 countries committed to democracy and the market economy. Its members are typically democratic countries that support free-market economies.
