{"id":17845,"date":"2023-12-06T04:13:51","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T22:43:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17845"},"modified":"2025-04-05T07:01:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T01:31:23","slug":"pdi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pdi\/","title":{"rendered":"Panchayat Development Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Panchayat Development Index<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0multi-domain and multi-sectoral index that is intended to be used to\u00a0assess\u00a0the overall holistic development,\u00a0performance &amp; progress of panchayats.<\/li>\n<li>It takes into account\u00a0various socio-economic indicators and parameters to gauge the well-being and development status of the local communities within the jurisdiction of a panchayat.<\/li>\n<li>It would play a significant role for performance evaluation and progress assessment in achieving the\u00a0localization of Sustainable Development Goals\u00a0in rural areas.<\/li>\n<li>Under this the Local Indicators Framework on\u00a0nine themes of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals was prepared.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0nine themes taken into account are\u00a0poverty free and enhanced livelihood in village,\u00a0healthy village, child friendly village, water sufficient village, clean and green village, village with self-sufficient infrastructure, socially just and socially secured villages, village with good governance, and women friendly village.<\/li>\n<li>Ranks: This Index ranks\u00a0panchayats on the basis of scores, and categorises them into\u00a0four grades.\n<ul>\n<li>Those with scores under\u00a040 per cent fall in grade D, 40-60 per cent in grade\u00a0C, 60-75 per cent in grade\u00a0B, 75 to 90 per cent in category\u00a0A, while those scoring\u00a0above 90 per cent will be categorised as\u00a0A+.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Significance\n<ul>\n<li>It shall provide valuable insights into the areas that require attention for improvement within the rural areas under the jurisdiction of the panchayats.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0helps in identifying disparities, achievement of development goals, and formulating targeted policies and interventions to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life of rural communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are the SDGs?<\/h3>\n<p>The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals with 169 targets with interlinked objectives designed to serve as a &#8220;shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
