{"id":17908,"date":"2023-12-08T09:52:03","date_gmt":"2023-12-08T04:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17908"},"modified":"2025-04-05T07:26:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T01:56:25","slug":"ibu-volcano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ibu-volcano\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibu Volcano"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>About Ibu Volcano<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0stratovolcano\u00a0located on Halmahera Island, in the province of Maluku,\u00a0East Indonesia.<\/li>\n<li>It is one of the most isolated and least accessible volcanoes in Indonesia.<\/li>\n<li>It stands as high as 1,377 meters above sea level.<\/li>\n<li>The volcano extends 16 km E-W and 13 km N-S.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a Stratovolcano?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The stratovolcano is a\u00a0tall, steep, and\u00a0cone-shaped type of volcano.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Unlike flat-shield volcanoes,\u00a0they\u00a0have higher peaks.<\/li>\n<li>At their peak, stratovolcanoes\u00a0usually have a small crater. The crater may be\u00a0filled with water or ice,\u00a0or it may contain\u00a0a volcanic dome during a period of relative inactivity.<\/li>\n<li>Strato Volcanoes\u00a0comprise the largest percentage (~60%) of the Earth&#8217;s individual volcanoes,\u00a0and most are\u00a0characterized by eruptions of andesite and dacite,\u00a0lavas\u00a0that are\u00a0cooler and more viscous than basalt.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>These more\u00a0viscous lavas allow gas pressures to build up to high levels. Therefore, these volcanoes\u00a0often\u00a0suffer explosive eruptions.<\/li>\n<li>They are\u00a0usually about half-half lava and pyroclastic material, and the layering of these products\u00a0gives them their other\u00a0common name of composite volcanoes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are pyroclasts?<\/h3>\n<p>Pyroclasts (or &#8220;tephra&#8217;) are any volcanic fragment that was hurled through the air by volcanic activity. A pyroclastic eruption is one in which the great majority of activity involves fountaining or explosions. A pyroclastic deposit is the resulting layer or pile of material that has fallen to the ground by one or many pyroclastic eruptions.
