


{"id":17993,"date":"2023-12-10T05:17:03","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T23:47:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=17993"},"modified":"2025-04-05T07:59:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T02:29:24","slug":"nmgc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nmgc\/","title":{"rendered":"National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a registered\u00a0society under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, to take measures for\u00a0prevention, control, and abatement of environmental pollution in the river Ganga and to ensure continuous adequate flow of water so as to rejuvenate the river Ganga.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0acted as the implementation arm of the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA), which was constituted under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act (EPA), 1986.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>NGRBA\u00a0has since been dissolved\u00a0with effect from 7th October 2016,\u00a0consequent to the constitution of the\u00a0National Council for Rejuvenation, Protection, and Management of River Ganga (referred to as\u00a0National Ganga Council).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0aims and objectives of NMCG is to accomplish the mandate of the NGRBA:\n<ul>\n<li>To\u00a0ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the river Ganga by adopting a river basin approach to promote inter-sectoral co-ordination for comprehensive planning and management and<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0maintain minimum ecological flows in the river Ganga with the aim of ensuring water quality and environmentally sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Structure:\n<ul>\n<li>NMCG has a\u00a0two tier management structure\u00a0that comprises of\u00a0Governing Council and\u00a0Executive<br \/>\nCommittee.
