{"id":18230,"date":"2023-12-16T02:43:55","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T21:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18230"},"modified":"2025-04-05T09:32:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T04:02:22","slug":"fwtd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/fwtd\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an indigenous\u00a0high-speed flying-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).<\/li>\n<li>It is designed and developed by DRDO\u2019s Aeronautical Development Establishment.<\/li>\n<li>The maiden flight of this aircraft was demonstrated in July 2022.<\/li>\n<li>These flight-tests led to achievements in development of robust aerodynamic and control system; integrated\u00a0real-time and hardware-in-loop simulation, and state-of-the-art\u00a0Ground Control Station.<\/li>\n<li>The team had optimised the avionic systems, integration and flight operations towards the successful seventh flight in final configuration.<\/li>\n<li>The aircraft prototype, with a complex arrowhead wing platform, is designed and manufactured with\u00a0light-weight carbon prepreg composite material developed indigenously.<\/li>\n<li>Also, the composite structure, impregnated with fibre interrogators for health monitoring, is a showcase of \u2018Aatmanirbharta\u2019 in the aerospace technology.<\/li>\n<li>The autonomous landing of this high-speed UAV, without the need for ground radars\/infrastructure\/pilot, showcased a unique capability demonstration,\u00a0allowing take-off and landing from any runway with surveyed coordinates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle?<\/h3>\n<p>UAVs, also known as drones, are a class of aircraft that can fly without a pilot.
