{"id":18447,"date":"2026-10-17T11:54:27","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T06:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18447"},"modified":"2026-10-17T15:13:44","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T09:43:44","slug":"pm-ajay-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-ajay-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) has seen 18,093 villages declared Adarsh Grams as of September 8, 2026, reflecting efforts to improve infrastructure, basic services and quality of life in Scheduled Caste-majority villages. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About <\/b><b>Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a comprehensive initiative by the Government of India, <\/span><b>launched in FY 2021-22, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aimed at the<\/span><b> socio-economic upliftment of Scheduled Castes (SCs).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>merger scheme of three erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, namely, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-pradhan-mantri-adi-adarsh-gram-yojana\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY)<\/a>,<\/b> <b>Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCA to SCSP),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana (BJRCY).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Implemented <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the scheme focuses on <\/span><b>reducing poverty,<\/b> <b>enhancing educational opportunities,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>improving infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in SC-dominated areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The objectives of the Scheme are to:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Reduce poverty<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the SC communities by <\/span><b>generating additional employment opportunities <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through skill development, income-generating schemes, and other initiatives.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Improve socio-economic developmental indicators <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by ensuring <\/span><b>adequate infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and requisite services in the SC-dominated villages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Increase literacy and encourage enrollment of SCs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in schools and higher educational institutions by providing<\/span><b> adequate residential facilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in quality institutions, as well as r<\/span><b>esidential schools <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where required, especially in the aspirational districts\/SC-dominated blocks and elsewhere in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme is <\/span><b>100% funded by the Central Government<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, the<\/span><b> States\/UTs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>free to provide additional funds <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from their own resources if they so desire.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The states are required to submit their Annual Action Plans (AAPs) through the PM-AJAY portal in order to receive funds from the central government.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>planning process is decentralized<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, allowing for the <\/span><b>creation and approval of projects at both state and district levels.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Key Components:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Adarsh Gram Development:<\/b> <b>Transforming SC-majority villages into \u2018Adarsh Grams\u2019 (model villages)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><b>filling critical gaps in infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and services.\u200b<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Grants-in-Aid for Socio-Economic Projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Providing financial assistance for district\/state-level projects aimed at the socio-economic betterment of SCs.
