{"id":18455,"date":"2026-05-29T12:00:27","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T06:30:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18455"},"modified":"2026-05-29T15:55:44","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T10:25:44","slug":"cisf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cisf\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Industrial Security Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Central Industrial Security Force Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around 1,200 fishing harbours and fishing landing sites are all set to be brought under the oversight of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as part of the Union Home Ministry\u2019s plan to fortify and secure India\u2019s coastline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Central Industrial Security Force<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>Central Armed Police Force<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CAPF) in India operating <\/span><b>under the Ministry of Home Affairs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides security to various critical <\/span><b>infrastructures and important national installations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> New Delhi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Motto:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cProtection and Security\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Establishment of\u00a0 Central Industrial Security Force<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The idea of forming a specialised industrial security force gained urgency after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>CISF came into existence in 1969<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the <\/span><b>CISF Act 1968<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a sanctioned strength of only three battalions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The original charter of CISF was to provide integrated security cover to certain sensitive public sector undertakings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act was <\/span><b>amended in 1983,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> declaring the CISF as an <\/span><b>Armed Force of the Union.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Organisation Structure of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is headed by an <\/span><b>Indian Police Service officer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the rank <\/span><b>of Director-General<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assisted by<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an IPS officer in the <\/span><b>rank of Addl. Director-General.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The force is <\/span><b>divided into seven sectors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Airport, North, North-East, East, West, South, and Training) and also has a <\/span><b>Fire Service Wing.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The force consists of <\/span><b>seven training institutes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 six Recruit Training Centers and the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Functions of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides security to India\u2019s most critical infrastructure facilities, like <\/span><b>nuclear installations, space establishments, airports, seaports, power plants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the CISF also protects important government buildings, iconic heritage monuments, Delhi Metro, Parliament House Complex.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CISF personnel are trained in disaster management techniques, enabling them to actively respond to natural <\/span><b>disasters like earthquakes, floods, and cyclones.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CISF is one of the largest Fire Protection Service providers in the country.
