{"id":18463,"date":"2023-12-22T08:00:30","date_gmt":"2023-12-22T02:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18463"},"modified":"2025-04-05T11:04:52","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T05:34:52","slug":"rashtrapati-nilayam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rashtrapati-nilayam\/","title":{"rendered":"Rashtrapati Nilayam"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Rashtrapati Nilayam<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Rashtrapati Nilayam (literally the &#8220;President&#8217;s House&#8221;),\u00a0originally known as\u00a0Residency House, is the\u00a0official retreat of the President of India.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0located\u00a0in Secunderabad Cantonment\u00a0in Hyderabad, Telangana.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0one of the Presidential retreats in India and the\u00a0only one present in Southern India.<\/li>\n<li>History:\n<ul>\n<li>Residency House was\u00a0constructed in 1860\u00a0as the\u00a0country house of the British Resident.<\/li>\n<li>It also served as a place of refuge, given its secure location, amid several battles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>After Hyderabad\u2019s annexation in 1948, it\u00a0became the President&#8217;s retreat and\u00a0used as the Southern Sojourn of the President of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It has a total land area of 90 acres.<\/li>\n<li>A single-storey building, it contains on its premises 11 rooms. It also has a Dining Hall, Cinema Hall, Darbar Hall, Morning room, Dining room, etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0President stays\u00a0at the residence\u00a0at least once a year\u00a0and conducts official business.<\/li>\n<li>It was\u00a0also used as a guest house for visiting\u00a0dignitaries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>President\u2019s Retreats<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>While the\u00a0Rashtrapati Bhavan\u00a0in Delhi is the official residence of the President, there\u00a0are two retreats for the head of state in India.<\/li>\n<li>Rashtrapati Nilayam is one, and the\u00a0other is Rashtrapati Niwas at Mashobra in Shimla.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Operation Polo?<\/h3>\n<p>Operation Polo is the military action launched by the Indian Army on September 13, 1948, to integrate the princely state of Hyderabad. The Nizam of Hyderabad was dithering on joining India ever since Independence on August 15, 1947.
