{"id":18517,"date":"2023-12-23T08:09:36","date_gmt":"2023-12-23T02:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18517"},"modified":"2025-04-05T11:25:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T05:55:02","slug":"unesco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/unesco\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>UNESCO seeks to encourage private sector involvement and public-private collaboration in conserving the region\u2019s cultural heritage for the benefit of current and future generations.<\/li>\n<li>Since 2000, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation have been recognizing the\u00a0achievement of the private sector and public-private initiatives in successfully conserving or restoring structures, places and properties of heritage value in the region.<\/li>\n<li>Among the recognised sites, five are from China,\u00a0six from India, and one from Nepal.<\/li>\n<li>Award winning sites from India are as follows\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0Rambagh Gate in Amritsar received the \u201cAward of Excellence,\u201d the highest recognition among all categories.<\/li>\n<li>Pipal Haveli, a heritage rural homestay from Punjab was honoured for its\u00a0sustainable development.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0Karnikara Mandapam at Kunnamangalam Bhagawati Temple in Kerala earned the\u00a0Award of Distinction.<\/li>\n<li>Epiphany in Haryana,\u00a0David Sassoon Library and Reading Room in Mumbai and Bikaner House in New Delhi received the\u00a0Award of Merit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Rambagh Gate &amp; Ramparts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Rambagh Gate is a three-storied structure.<\/li>\n<li>The restoration involved using traditional building techniques and locally sourced materials like the characteristic\u00a0Nanakshahi bricks set in lime mortar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Pipal Haveli, Gurdaspur<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It emphasises ecological and traditional building methods, utilising locally sourced materials and vernacular architectural language.<\/li>\n<li>It supports women\u2019s empowerment through initiatives like the\u00a0BaRi Collective, offering programmes that strengthen women\u2019s livelihoods via environmentally<br \/>\nconscious craft practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is UNESCO?<\/h3>\n<p>UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It is specialized agency of the United Nations(UN).The constitution, which entered into force in 1946, called for the promotion of international collaboration in education, science, and culture.
