Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pong Dam Lake (also known as <\/span><b>Maharana Pratap Sagar)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a <\/span><b>manmade reservoir<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> formed due to the <\/span><b>construction of Pong Dam on the Beas River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the wetland zone of the <\/span><b>Shivalik hills <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the Kangra district of <\/span><b>Himachal Pradesh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Pong Dam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the <\/span><b>highest earth-fill dam in India <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and was constructed in 1975.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the largest species like eucalyptus, acacia, and shisham.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fauna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the site\u2019s <\/span><b>location on the trans-Himalayan flyway,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> more than <\/span><b>220 bird species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been identified, with <\/span><b>54 species of waterfowl.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avifauna include <\/span><b>Bar-headed geese, Pintails, common pochards,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> coots, Grebes, Cormorants, Herons, Storks, , angle fowls, peafowl, Grey partridges, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also home to animals like <\/span><b>Sambar, Barking Deer, Wild Bear, Nilgai, <\/b><span
