{"id":18659,"date":"2026-09-13T14:13:29","date_gmt":"2026-09-13T08:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18659"},"modified":"2026-09-13T18:25:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T12:55:30","slug":"csc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/csc\/","title":{"rendered":"Colombo Security Conclave (CSC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The three-day Table Top Exercise (TTX) conducted under the aegis of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) successfully culminated at Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Visakhapatnam.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Colombo Security Conclave (CSC)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>regional security framework<\/b> <b>established in 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Member Countries:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comprises <\/span><b>India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mauritius\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mauritius<\/a>, and Seychelles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The CSC\u2019s core objective is to <\/span><b>promote regional security<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by addressing transnational threats and challenges of common concern to the member states.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It brings together <\/span><b>National Security Advisors (NSAs) and Deputy NSAs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the member countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Background<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CSC, initially known as the <\/span><b>Trilateral for Maritime Security Cooperation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, evolved out of trilateral meetings between NSAs and Deputy NSAs from India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, starting in 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It came to a standstill after 2014 due to rising tensions between India and the Maldives.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After its revival and rebranding as the CSC in 2020, Mauritius joined the CSC in 2022, while Bangladesh joined in 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More recently, <\/span><b>Seychelles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has become the <\/span><b>sixth member<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the CSC.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cooperation under the conclave <\/span><b>focuses on five pillars:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maritime safety and security.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Countering terrorism and radicalisation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combating trafficking and transnational organised crime.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cyber-security and protection of critical infrastructure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Permanent secretariat:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Colombo, Sri Lanka<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2309385&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colombo Security Conclave brings India and other regional nations together to address transnational threats and strengthen regional security.
