{"id":18659,"date":"2025-12-03T11:43:29","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T06:13:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18659"},"modified":"2025-12-04T11:46:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T06:16:31","slug":"csc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/csc\/","title":{"rendered":"Colombo Security Conclave (CSC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Colombo Security Conclave Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 7th National Security Adviser level meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave\u00a0 was held in New Delhi recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Colombo Security Conclave\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>regional security grouping <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">comprising<\/span><b> India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CSC\u2019s core objective is to <\/span><b>promote regional security<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by addressing transnational threats and challenges of common concern to the member states.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CSC <\/span><b>brings together National Security Advisors (NSAs) and Deputy NSAs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the member countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Origin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CSC, <\/span><b>initially known as the Trilateral for Maritime Security Cooperation, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">evolved out of trilateral meetings between NSAs<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Deputy NSAs from <\/span><b>India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">starting in <\/span><b>2011<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It came to a <\/span><b>standstill after 2014 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">due to rising tensions between India and the Maldives.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>After its revival and rebranding as the CSC in 2020,<\/b> <b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mauritius\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mauritius<\/a> joined<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the CSC in 2022, while <\/span><b>Bangladesh joined<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>More recently, Seychelles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has <\/span><b>become the sixth membe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">r of the CSC.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cooperation under the conclave <\/span><b>focuses on five pillars:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Maritime safety <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and security.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Countering terrorism <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and radicalisation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Combating trafficking <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and transnational organised crime.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Cyber-security <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and protection of critical infrastructure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Humanitarian assistance <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>disaster relief.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Permanent secretariat: Colombo.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/7th-colombo-security-conclave-nsas-meeting-begins-in-new-delhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NOA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colombo Security Conclave is a regional security grouping comprising India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
