Legal Services Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Legal Services Authority Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Minister of State of the Ministry of Law and Justice informed the Rajya Sabha about district legal services clinics established by the National Legal Services Authority.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Legal Services Authority<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established under the <\/span><b>Legal Services Authorities (LSA) Act, 1987.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Purpose:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To provide <\/span><b>free and competent legal services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the <\/span><b>poor and marginalised<\/b> <b>sections of the society<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Structure\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NALSA is housed at <\/span><b>Supreme Court of India, New Delhi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In every State, a <\/span><b>State Legal Services Authority<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and in <\/span><b>every High Court,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a High Court Legal Services Committee has been constituted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>District Legal Services Authorities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Taluk Legal Services Committees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been constituted in the Districts and most of the Taluks to give effect to the policies and directions of the NALSA.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>The free legal services include<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Payment of court fees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, process fees, and all other charges payable or incurred in connection with any legal proceedings<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Providing the service of lawyers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in legal proceedings;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Obtaining and supply of certified copies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of orders and other documents in legal proceedings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preparation of appeal, paper book, including printing and translation of documents in legal proceedings.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Persons eligible for free legal services includes:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women and children<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of SC\/ST<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Industrial workmen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Victims of mass disasters, violence, flood, drought, earthquake, and industrial disaster<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disabled persons<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Persons in custody<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Persons whose annual income<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh (in the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee the limit is Rs. 5,00,000).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight:
