{"id":18750,"date":"2025-09-27T12:05:57","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T06:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18750"},"modified":"2025-09-27T14:56:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T09:26:42","slug":"financial-intelligence-unit-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/financial-intelligence-unit-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Intelligence Unit-India"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Financial Intelligence Unit-India Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance data sharing and inter-agency coordination.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Financial Intelligence Unit-India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was set by the <\/span><b>Government of India in 2004.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>central national agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> responsible for receiving, processing, analyzing and disseminating information <\/span><b>relating to suspect financial transactions.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FIU-IND is an <\/span><b>independent <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">body reporting directly to the Economic Intelligence Council (EIC) headed by <\/span><b>the Finance Minister. \u00a0 <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Function of Financial Intelligence Unit-India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Collection of Information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It acts as the central reception point for receiving <\/span><b>Cash Transaction reports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CTRs), <\/span><b>Non-Profit Organisation Transaction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Report(NTRs), Cross Border Wire Transfer Reports (CBWTRs), Reports on <\/span><b>Purchase or Sale of Immovable Property<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IPRs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) from various reporting entities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Analysis of Information:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Analyze received information in order to uncover patterns of transactions suggesting suspicion of money laundering and related crimes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sharing of Information: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shares information with national intelligence\/law enforcement agencies, national regulatory authorities and foreign Financial Intelligence Units.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Central Repository:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It establishes and maintains a national database on the basis of reports received from reporting entities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Coordination:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It coordinates and strengthens collection and sharing of financial intelligence through an effective national, regional and global network to combat money laundering and related crimes.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Research and Analysis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Monitor and identify strategic key areas on money laundering trends, typologies and developments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ddnews.gov.in\/en\/dot-fiu-ind-join-hands-to-curb-cyber-crimes-and-financial-frauds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DD News<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Financial Intelligence Unit-India was set up by the Government of India in 2004.
