


{"id":18770,"date":"2023-12-30T06:41:44","date_gmt":"2023-12-30T01:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18770"},"modified":"2025-04-05T12:59:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T07:29:05","slug":"warli-paintings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/warli-paintings\/","title":{"rendered":"Warli Paintings"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Warli Paintings<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a style of\u00a0tribal art created by the tribal people from the\u00a0North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra.<\/li>\n<li>This art form can be traced back to\u00a010th century AD but was first discovered and appreciated for its distinctive style only in the early 1970s.<\/li>\n<li>It was traditionally practised by women of the\u00a0Warli tribe called Suvasinis, who decorated the Lagn Chowk or the wedding square.<\/li>\n<li>Theme:\n<ul>\n<li>Warli represents the\u00a0daily routine of rural life, the relationship of the tribal people with nature, their gods, myths, traditions, customs, and festivities.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>These rudimentary wall paintings use a set of\u00a0basic geometric shapes: a circle, a triangle, and a square.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0central motif in each ritual painting is the square, known as the\u00a0&#8220;chauk&#8221; or &#8220;chaukat&#8221;, mostly of two types known as Devchauk and Lagnachauk.<\/li>\n<li>One of the central aspects depicted in many Warli paintings is\u00a0the tarpa dance. The tarpa, a trumpet-like instrument, is played in turns by different village men. Men and women entwine their hands and move in a circle around the tarpa player.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Painting technique and materials\n<ul>\n<li>First design is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Without tracing design, it is\u00a0directly drawn on paper or cloth.<\/li>\n<li>Cleverly modified bamboo sticks are used as paint brushes to create the paintings.<\/li>\n<li>The colours and materials used for the paintings are\u00a0derived from nature\u00a0like brown and orange from henna, indigo from dye, red from bricks and white from thick rice paste.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Who are Warli tribes ?<\/h3>\n<p>Warli Tribes are an Adivasi indigenous tribe who live in the mountainous, coastal, and bordering regions of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
