{"id":18774,"date":"2023-12-30T04:56:14","date_gmt":"2023-12-29T23:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18774"},"modified":"2025-04-05T13:00:36","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T07:30:36","slug":"neora-np","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/neora-np\/","title":{"rendered":"Neora Valley National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Neora Valley National Park<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located in the Kalimpong district of\u00a0West Bengal.<\/li>\n<li>It is one of the\u00a0richest biological zones in the entire Northeast.<\/li>\n<li>Boundaries\n<ul>\n<li>It is\u00a0contiguous with Sikkim and Bhutan at its northern and north-eastern boundaries respectively and links\u00a0the Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary in Sikkim and the Toorsa Strict Reserve of Bhutan.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0southern boundaries of the Park are adjoining to the forests of Jalpaiguri district which have connectivity with the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and the Gorumara National Park.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The highest point of the park\u00a0is Rachela Pass.<\/li>\n<li>It consists of the characteristics of all the three sub-regions, namely\u00a0Himalayan Montane System, Indian Peninsular Sub-region and the Malayan sub-region.<\/li>\n<li>Four habitat types are recognised viz. Subtropical Mixed Broadleaf Forest, Lower Temperate Evergreen Forest,Upper Temperate Mixed Broadleaf Forest and Rhododendron Forest.<\/li>\n<li>Vegetation: Dry Mixed Forest, Wet Mixed Forest, Lauraceous Forest, Bak-Oak Forest, High level oak Forest, Coniferous Forest and Himalayas Moist Temperate Forest.<\/li>\n<li>Flora:\u00a0The forests consist of mixed species like rhododendron , bamboo, oak, ferns, sal etc.<\/li>\n<li>Fauna: Red Panda, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Black Bear, Sambar, Barking Deer, Serow, Goral, Dhole and Gaur etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Rhododendrons?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a genus of flowering plants that includes over a thousand species, including trees, shrubs, and creepers. These are a diverse genus of about 1,000 species of woody flowering plants in the heath family (Ericaceae), notable for their attractive flowers and handsome foliage.
