


{"id":18798,"date":"2025-01-23T12:10:42","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T06:40:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18798"},"modified":"2025-04-05T13:10:03","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T07:40:03","slug":"ssy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ssy\/","title":{"rendered":"Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Latest News<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This year marks the 10 years of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana encouraging families to invest in the bright futures of their daughters, fostering a culture of inclusion and progress.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>savings scheme<\/strong> launched back <strong>in 2015 as part of<\/strong> the Government initiative <strong>Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This scheme enables <strong>guardians to open a savings account for their girl childwith<\/strong> an <strong>authorized commercial bank or India Post branch<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The applicant must be a citizen of India.<\/li>\n<li>The account can be opened by a parent or legal guardian of the girl&#8217;s child.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>girl child must be below<\/strong> the age of <strong>10 years.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Only one account<\/strong> is allowed <strong>for a girl child.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A family can open only 2 SSY <\/strong>scheme <strong>accounts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NRIs are not eligible<\/strong> to open these accounts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Features<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Minimum &amp; Maximum Deposit:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Investment of <strong>minimum Rs. 250<\/strong> and m<strong>aximum Rs. 1.5 lakh in a financial year<\/strong>. Subsequent deposits in multiples of Rs. 100.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No limit on the number of deposits<\/strong> either in a month or in a Financial Year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tenure<\/strong>: The maturity period of SSY is <strong>21 years from the account opening<\/strong>. However, <strong>contributions <\/strong>have to be <strong>madefor the first 15 years only<\/strong>. Thereafter, the SSY account will continue to earn interest until maturity.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>SSY account<\/strong> shall be <strong>mandatorily operated by the girl child after<\/strong> she attains the <strong>age of 18 years<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interest<\/strong>: Interest on SSA as <strong>announced by Govt. Of India every quarter<\/strong> will be applicable and <strong>compounded annually.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Partial withdrawal<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Withdrawal shall be allowed <strong>after the account holder attains<\/strong> the age of <strong>eighteen years or has passed the tenth standard<\/strong>, whichever is earlier.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For higher education 50% of the balance<\/strong> at the end of the previous financial year can be withdrawn. <strong>For marriage <\/strong>of adult account holders, <strong>100% withdrawals are permitted<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Premature Closure:Allowed in the event of death<\/strong> of the depositor <strong>or in cases of extreme compassionate grounds<\/strong> such as medical support in life threatening diseases to be authorized by an order by the Central Government.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tax Benefits<\/strong>: On investing in this scheme, <strong>tax exemption<\/strong> is also available <strong>under Section 80C<\/strong> of the Income Tax Act.
