It also\u00a0decides the interest rate for the Eurozone.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The ECBs is\u00a0headed by a president and a board,\u00a0comprising the\u00a0heads of the central banks of the participating nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>How do countries join Eurozone?\n<ul>\n<li>In order to join the euro area, EU member states are\u00a0required to fulfil so-called\u00a0&#8216;convergence criteria&#8217; which consists\u00a0of price stability,\u00a0sound public finances, the\u00a0durability of convergence, and\u00a0exchange rate stability.<\/li>\n<li>These binding economic and legal conditions were agreed upon in the Maastricht Treaty\u00a0in 1992 and are also known as &#8216;Maastricht criteria&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>All EU Member States, except Denmark, are\u00a0required to adopt the euro and join the euro area once they are ready to fulfill them.<\/li>\n<li>The Treaty does not specify a particular\u00a0timetable for joining the euro area but leaves it to member states to develop their own strategies for meeting the condition for euro adoption.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0European Commission and the ECB jointly decide whether the conditions are met for euro area candidate countries to adopt the euro.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is European Union (EU)?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The EU is a\u00a0political and economic union of 27\u00a0member\u00a0states\u00a0located primarily in Europe.<\/li>\n<li>The EU was established by the\u00a0Maastricht Treaty, which entered into force on November 1, 1993.<\/li>\n<li>The main goal of the EU is to promote cooperation and integration among its member states in order\u00a0to\u00a0enhance\u00a0economic and political stability in Europe.<\/li>\n<li>The EU has its\u00a0own currency, the Euro, which is\u00a0used by 19\u00a0of the member\u00a0states.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It has a\u00a0single market where goods, services, and capital can move freely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the European Commission?\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>European Commission (EC) is an institution of the European Union (EU) and its constituent entities that makes up the organization\u2019s executive arm.
