{"id":18908,"date":"2024-01-03T09:40:54","date_gmt":"2024-01-03T04:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18908"},"modified":"2025-04-05T14:02:19","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T08:32:19","slug":"genocide-convention-1948","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/genocide-convention-1948\/","title":{"rendered":"Genocide Convention 1948"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Genocide Convention 1948<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The term \u2018genocide\u2019 is often loosely used when speaking of attacks against various communities across the world.<\/li>\n<li>It has been defined using set criteria in the\u00a0UN\u2019s Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, moved in the\u00a0General Assembly in 1948.<\/li>\n<li>It says, \u201cIn the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:\n<ul>\n<li>Killing members of the group;<\/li>\n<li>Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;<\/li>\n<li>Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;<\/li>\n<li>Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;<\/li>\n<li>Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>As per this convention the genocide is a crime whether committed\u00a0during wartime or peacetime.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>India ratified the\u00a0convention in 1959;
