{"id":18925,"date":"2024-01-04T01:26:06","date_gmt":"2024-01-03T19:56:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18925"},"modified":"2025-04-05T14:08:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T08:38:27","slug":"sikki-grass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sikki-grass\/","title":{"rendered":"Sikki Grass"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Sikki Grass<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sikki grass belongs to the\u00a0zizanoides grass family.<\/li>\n<li>It is a rich yellowish variety of reed grass,\u00a0locally known as \u2018Kaincha\u2019 is called Golden Grass due to its golden luster on drying.<\/li>\n<li>Scientifically called\u00a0Chrysopogon zizanioides, it finds mention in ancient Sanskrit texts such as the Ramayana, where it is referred to as viran, sugandhimool, ushir and nalad.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This grass grows indigenously in the\u00a0Tarai regions of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and has an average height of 3-4 feet.<\/li>\n<li>While the stem is used to\u00a0make artefacts, the roots are used for\u00a0extracting oil that is used both for perfumery and medicinal purposes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In the hilly terrains, it is also now\u00a0grown to arrest soil erosion.<\/li>\n<li>Sikki got the\u00a0geographical identification tag in 2018.<\/li>\n<li>Uses:\n<ul>\n<li>It is most known for its handicraft.
