{"id":18965,"date":"2024-01-05T10:46:33","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T05:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=18965"},"modified":"2025-04-05T14:23:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T08:53:58","slug":"new-plant-species-ca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/new-plant-species-ca\/","title":{"rendered":"New plant species"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About New plant species<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A new plant species named\u00a0Polygonum Chaturbhujanum has been discovered at Gol Pahadi island of PTR.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0is a herb.<\/li>\n<li>Six plant species endemic to India have also been found in Pench.<\/li>\n<li>They are\u00a0Aegineta indica,\u00a0Boerhavia crispa, Habenaria gibsonii var foetida, Iphigenia pallida, Petalidium barlerioides and Barleria gibsoniii.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key facts about the Pench Tiger Reserve<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located in the southern reaches of the\u00a0Satpura hills\u00a0in the Seoni and Chhindwara districts in\u00a0Madhya Pradesh and continues in Nagpur district in\u00a0Maharashtra\u00a0as a separate Sanctuary.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is named after the\u00a0Pench River, which flows from north to south through the Reserve.<\/li>\n<li>It comprises of the\u00a0Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park, the\u00a0Pench Mowgli Sanctuary and a buffer.<\/li>\n<li>Terrain: It is undulating, with most of the area covered by small hills and steep slopes on the sides.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Vegetation: The undulating topography supports a mosaic of vegetation ranging from a moist, sheltered valley to an open, dry-deciduous forest.<\/li>\n<li>Flora: Teak, saag, mahua, and various grasses and shrubs etc.<\/li>\n<li>Fauna: Chital, Sambar, Nilgai, Gaur (Indian Bison) and wild boar,tiger, dogs and wolf.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are herbs?<\/h3>\n<p>Herbs are the leaf part of a plant that is used in cooking &#8211; these can be used fresh or dried.
