{"id":19140,"date":"2025-01-09T08:51:57","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T03:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19140"},"modified":"2025-04-05T15:32:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T10:02:22","slug":"pravasi-bharatiya-diwas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pravasi-bharatiya-diwas\/","title":{"rendered":"Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Pravasi Bharatiya Divas:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the flagship event of the <strong>Ministry of External Affairs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is held in different cities, to showcase the diversity and progress of different regions of India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Since 2015,<\/strong> it has evolved <strong>into a biennale event<\/strong>, with theme-based conferences held in the intervening years.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>History:<\/strong> This bi-annual celebration, <strong>held on January 9th<\/strong>, commemorates the day in 1915 when <strong>Mahatma Gandhi<\/strong>, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa to lead the country&#8217;s freedom struggle.<\/li>\n<li>The primary goals of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas are:\n<ul>\n<li>To commemorate the <strong>contributions of the Indian diaspora<\/strong> to India&#8217;s development<\/li>\n<li>To create a better understanding of India abroad<\/li>\n<li>To support India&#8217;s causes and work for the welfare of local Indian communities worldwide<\/li>\n<li>To provide a platform for overseas Indians to engage with the government and people of their ancestral land.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These conventions have proven instrumental in fostering connections between India and its vast overseas community, enabling the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and skills across various fields.<\/li>\n<li>The theme for this year is the <strong>\u201cDiaspora&#8217;s contribution to a Viksit Bharat<\/strong>\u201d (Developed India).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1: Who is known as a Person of Indian Origin?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) means a foreign citizen (except a national of. Pakistan, Afghanistan Bangladesh, China, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal) who at any time held an Indian passport.
