


{"id":19188,"date":"2024-01-11T10:00:47","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T04:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19188"},"modified":"2025-04-05T15:51:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T10:21:08","slug":"ep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ep\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Einstein Probe (EP)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Einstein Probe (EP)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The EP is a\u00a0mission of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) dedicated to\u00a0time-domain high-energy astrophysics.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0primary scientific goal of the EP is\u00a0to explore the\u00a0transient and variable X-ray sky,\u00a0capturing powerful bursts of high-energy light emanating from objects such as merging neutron stars and black holes.<\/li>\n<li>It was successfully\u00a0launched on January 9, 2024, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China with a &#8220;Long March-2C&#8221; rocket.<\/li>\n<li>It is equipped with\u00a0state-of-the-art X-ray mirrors and detectors.<\/li>\n<li>Unlike conventional X-ray telescopes, Einstein Probe\u2019s unique design allows it to monitor almost a tenth of the sky simultaneously, discovering new sources as they light up in X-rays and enabling in-depth studies of known and new celestial phenomena over extended periods.<\/li>\n<li>It will\u00a0also detect light from gamma-ray bursts, supernovae, flares from other stars, and events within the Solar System, such as emissions from comets.<\/li>\n<li>The satellite has a\u00a0weight of\u00a0\uff5e1450 kg and an average power of\u00a0\uff5e1212 W in total.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are neutron stars?\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>Neutron stars are formed when a massive star runs out of fuel and collapses.
