


{"id":19228,"date":"2024-01-12T02:45:17","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T21:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19228"},"modified":"2025-04-05T16:06:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T10:36:49","slug":"zed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/zed\/","title":{"rendered":"Zero Effect, Zero Defect Scheme (ZED)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Zero Effect, Zero Defect Scheme (ZED)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Launched in October 2016 and revamped in April 2022, the ZED scheme\u00a0offers certification for environmentally conscious manufacturing under three certification levels\u00a0(gold, silver, and bronze) classified\u00a0according to 20 performance-based parameters such as quality management, timely delivery, process control, waste management, etc.<\/li>\n<li>The major\u00a0objectives of the ZED Scheme are:\n<ul>\n<li>To\u00a0create proper awareness in MSMEs\u00a0about ZED manufacturing and motivate them for the assessment of their enterprise for a ZED rating.<\/li>\n<li>To drive manufacturing with the adoption of Zero Defect production processes without impacting the environment (Zero Effect).<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0encourage MSMEs to constantly upgrade their quality standards in products and processes.<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0support the \u201cMake in India\u201d campaign.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The scheme\u00a0provides financial assistance of up to 75 percent of the total cost of certification,\u00a0with a maximum\u00a0subsidy ceiling of Rs 50,000,\u00a0along with up to Rs 2 lakh in support for\u00a0handholding\/consultancy to achieve the next certification level.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>For technology upgradation, the scheme offers assistance of up to Rs 3 lakhs for moving towards zero effect solutions\/pollution control measures\/cleaner technology.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>MSMEs are\u00a0charged Rs 10,000 for bronze certification, Rs 40,000 for silver certification, and Rs 90,000 for gold certification.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In December 2023, the MSME Ministry made the ZED scheme\u00a0free for women-led MSMEs.<\/li>\n<li>In addition, the\u00a0government will now make guarantee payment of 100 percent financial support for the certification costs under the scheme.<\/li>\n<li>The ZED certification is\u00a0valid for three years, and the MSME units are required to re-apply for the certificate as per the validity of the scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Currently, the scheme is\u00a0applicable for manufacturing MSMEs only.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the \u201cMake in India\u201d campaign?<\/h3>\n<p>&#8216;Make in India&#8217; initiative was launched globally in September 2014 as a part of India&#8217;s renewed focus on Manufacturing.
