{"id":19256,"date":"2024-01-13T06:15:26","date_gmt":"2024-01-13T00:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19256"},"modified":"2025-04-05T16:17:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T10:47:49","slug":"i-stem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/i-stem\/","title":{"rendered":"What is I-STEM?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About I-STEM<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I-STEM (Indian Science, Technology, and Engineering facilities Map) is an\u00a0initiative of the\u00a0Office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India.<\/li>\n<li>It is developed with the concept \u201cOne Nation One Portal\u201d\u00a0for the scientific community, aimed at \u201cLinking Researchers and Resources\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0assists users to locate the specific facility they need for their R&amp;D work and identify the one that is either located closest to them or available the soonest.<\/li>\n<li>The organisation, acting as custodian of the facility may charge the fee for running and maintaining the resources beyond the Project Duration.<\/li>\n<li>A panel of Experts will be formed in due course to assist the users by providing information to optimally utilise resources available through I-STEM\u2019s S&amp;T Chat Room.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0Digital Catalogue of Technologies and Technologies Products mandated by the Empowered Technology Group is an integral part of the I-STEM web portal.<\/li>\n<li>A platform for\u00a0conducting and hosting industry challenges as mandated by the Empowered Technology Group (ETG) is being developed for Start-ups and Academia for making India \u201cAatmnirbhar\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Through a recent GoI directive,\u00a0institutions with R&amp;D facilities\u00a0funded by agencies of the GoI are now mandated to\u00a0list these facilities on the I-STEM Portal.<\/li>\n<li>I-STEM protects the IP involved in building the I-STEM Portal, a provisional patent application entitled, &#8220;A method and process for efficient use of geographically dispersed resources&#8221;, has been filed with the Indian Patent Office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Project Samavesha?<\/h3>\n<p>The Office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India, is launching a major project called \u2018Samavesha\u2019 to revolutionize research collaboration in India by enhancing accessibility to facilities and labs. The project is working towards\u202foptimizing resource utilization nationwide.
