{"id":19272,"date":"2024-01-13T08:09:03","date_gmt":"2024-01-13T02:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19272"},"modified":"2025-04-05T16:25:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T10:55:25","slug":"hd-63433d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/hd-63433d\/","title":{"rendered":"What is HD 63433d?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About HD 63433d<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an\u00a0Earth-like exoplanet\u00a0that orbits a\u00a0sun-like star called HD 63433 (also known as TOI 1726).\n<ul>\n<li>The star is about\u00a073 light years away from the sun and is\u00a0part of the group of stars moving together that make up the\u00a0constellation Ursa Major.<\/li>\n<li>The star\u00a0HD 63433 shares similarities with our\u00a0sun in size and type\u00a0but is\u00a0significantly younger,\u00a0at roughly 400 million years old.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is the\u00a0smallest confirmed exoplanet, younger than 500 million years old.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s also the\u00a0closest Earth-sized planet discovered so far, and it\u2019s about\u00a0400 million years old.<\/li>\n<li>For comparison, Earth and the rest of our\u00a0solar system are around 4.5 billion years old,\u00a0meaning\u00a0HD 63433 d appears to be just around\u00a010% of the age of our planet.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s the\u00a0third planet found in orbit\u00a0around its star. This planet is\u00a0eight times closer to its star than Mercury is to the Sun.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Because of its proximity to its star, which has 99% the mass of our sun, the\u00a0planet is tidally locked, just like the moon is to Earth.\n<ul>\n<li>This\u00a0means that one side of the planet, its dayside,\u00a0constantly faces the star and is permanently blasted with stellar radiation, while the cooler nightside perpetually faces out into space.<\/li>\n<li>This\u00a0pushes surface temperatures on the planet&#8217;s dayside up\u00a0around 2,300 degrees Fahrenheit (1,260 degrees Celsius).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Its\u00a0orbit is remarkably short,\u00a0completing\u00a0a full revolution around its star\u00a0every 4.2 days.<\/li>\n<li>Being so hot, so close to its star, and so small, this planet likely\u00a0lacks a substantial atmosphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a Light Year?<\/h3>\n<p>Light-year is the distance light travels in one year.
