{"id":19306,"date":"2024-01-14T02:38:39","date_gmt":"2024-01-13T21:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19306"},"modified":"2025-04-05T16:38:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T11:08:01","slug":"pm-ebus-sewa-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-ebus-sewa-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM-eBus Sewa Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About PM-eBus Sewa Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme,\u00a010,000 e-buses will be deployed across cities in the country.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme was introduced to give a push to the\u00a0slow adoption of e-buses in public transport.<\/li>\n<li>Support for Operation:\n<ul>\n<li>Under this scheme, city\u00a0bus operations will be\u00a0done on a Public Private Partnership\u00a0(PPP) model.<\/li>\n<li>This scheme will\u00a0support bus operations for 10 years.<\/li>\n<li>States\/Cities shall be\u00a0responsible for running the bus services\u00a0and making payments to the bus\u00a0operators.<\/li>\n<li>The Central Government will support these bus operations\u00a0by providing subsidies to the extent specified in the proposed scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Funding:\n<ul>\n<li>It has been allocated a total funding\u00a0of Rs 57,613 crore.<\/li>\n<li>Out of this financial provision, the central government will contribute Rs 20,000 crore, while the remaining portion will be covered by the state governments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Coverage: It will cover\u00a0cities with a population of 300,000 and above and will include all the\u00a0capital cities of the \u2018Union Territories, North Eastern Region, and Hill States\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>There are\u00a0two segments of the scheme: Augmenting the city bus services and Associated Infrastructure, and Green Urban Mobility initiatives.\n<ul>\n<li>Augmenting the city bus services and Associated Infrastructure:\u00a0Under this segment, the scheme will augment city electric bus operations\u00a0by extending Central Assistance (CA) for 10,000 electric bus operation\u00a0on Public Private Partnership\u00a0(PPP) model, bus depots and behind-the-meter power infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Green Urban Mobility Initiatives (GUMI): Under this segment, the scheme will support the\u00a0implementation of GUMI projects for complementing bus services and demonstrating a reduction in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in urban areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The segment will include support for implementing the\u00a0National Common Mobility Card (NCMC)-based\u00a0Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS),\u00a0bus priority infrastructure, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC)?<\/h3>\n<p>This one card will give integrated access to the commuters wherever they travel, whichever public transport they take. The idea of NCMC was floated by the Nandan Nilekani committee set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). NCMC is an automatic fare collection system.
