{"id":19306,"date":"2026-08-30T14:38:39","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T09:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19306"},"modified":"2026-08-31T16:04:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T10:34:59","slug":"pm-ebus-sewa-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-ebus-sewa-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM-eBus Sewa Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PM-eBus Sewa Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Centre\u2019s PM e-Bus Sewa scheme is gathering pace, with more than 500 electric buses now operational across 23 cities and daily ridership crossing one lakh.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PM-eBus Sewa Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>strengthen the urban transport system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by deployment of <\/span><b>10,000 air-conditioned electric buses to urban cities.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligible Cities:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cities have a population <\/span><b>ranging 3-40 lakh and state capitals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including <\/span><b>North Eastern and Hilly Regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> below three lakh population as per 2011 census are eligible for the scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being implemented by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of PM-eBus Sewa Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It focuses on <\/span><b>cities with limited public transport capacity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and largely covers smaller cities including those where organised city bus services <\/span><b>have either been absent or inadequate.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this scheme, city bus operations will be done on a <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/public-private-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\">Public Private Partnership (PPP) model<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This scheme will support bus <\/span><b>operations for 10 years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">States\/Cities shall be responsible for running the bus services and making payments to the bus operators.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central Government will support these bus operations by providing subsidies to the extent specified in the proposed scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It covers development of <\/span><b>depots, charging infrastructure, green mobility initiatives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including accessible bus stops, last mile connectivity <\/span><b>Intelligent Transit Management System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ITMS) and <\/span><b>National Common Mobility Card (NCMC)-based ticketing.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/india\/2026\/Aug\/29\/centres-pm-e-bus-sewa-scheme-crosses-1-lakh-daily-ridership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NIE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The PM e-Bus Sewa scheme aims to strengthen the urban transport system by deployment of 10,000 air-conditioned electric buses to urban cities.
