{"id":19342,"date":"2025-07-12T12:27:49","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T06:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19342"},"modified":"2025-10-14T17:05:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T11:35:09","slug":"astra-missile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/astra-missile\/","title":{"rendered":"Astra Missile"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Astra Missile Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Defence Research &amp; Development Organisation (DRDO) &amp; Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted the flight-test of Astra missile.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Astra Missile<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an indigenous <\/span><b>Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile (BVRAAM).<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Features of Astra Missile<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped <\/span><b>with indigenous Radio Frequency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RF) Seeker from <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/su-30mki-fighter-jet\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Su-30 Mk-I.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a range <\/span><b>exceeding 100 kms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is equipped with state-of-the art <\/span><b>guidance and navigation system.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to various laboratories of DRDO, more than 50 public and private industries including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have contributed towards successful realisation of the weapon system.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Targets achieved<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the tests, two launches were carried out against <\/span><b>high-speed unmanned aerial targets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at different ranges, target aspects and launch platform conditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In both the cases, the missiles destroyed the targets with pin-point accuracy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the tests, all subsystems performed as per expectations including the RF seeker which has been indigenously designed &amp; developed by DRDO.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The flawless performance of the Astra weapon system was validated through flight data captured by Range Tracking instruments deployed by Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.
