


{"id":19378,"date":"2024-01-16T12:43:50","date_gmt":"2024-01-16T07:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19378"},"modified":"2025-04-05T17:08:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T11:38:14","slug":"tibetan-brown-bear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tibetan-brown-bear\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Tibetan Brown Bear?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Tibetan Brown Bear<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Tibetan brown bear, also known as the\u00a0Tibetan blue bear, is\u00a0one of the rarest subspecies of\u00a0bears in the world and is rarely sighted in the wild.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Scientific Name:\u00a0<i>Ursus arctos pruinosus<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Distribution:\n<ul>\n<li>Historically found mainly on the\u00a0alpine eastern Tibetan plateau (4,500 to 5,000 metres) in\u00a0eastern Tibet, western China, Nepal, and\u00a0Bhutan.<\/li>\n<li>Remaining bears in the wild seem to be\u00a0confined to eastern\u00a0Tibet and Bhutan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Habitat: It inhabits\u00a0alpine forests, meadows, and steppes, close to the tree line.<\/li>\n<li>This rare bear is very\u00a0different from the more\u00a0commonly found\u00a0Himalayan black bear in terms of its appearance, habitat, and behaviour.<\/li>\n<li>Features:\n<ul>\n<li>It has shaggy,\u00a0dark brown to black fur, a\u00a0cream to cinnamon face, and a\u00a0white collar that broadens from the shoulders to the chest.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It has\u00a0small ears covered with long black fur.<\/li>\n<li>Lifespan: around 20 to 30 years.<\/li>\n<li>Its\u00a0sense of smell\u00a0is much\u00a0more acute than its hearing and sight.<\/li>\n<li>They\u00a0are solitary, but the territories between two Himalayan brown bears have been seen to overlap. CITES was adopted in 1973 and entered into force in 1975. There are 184 member parties, and trade is regulated in more than 38,000 species.
