{"id":19398,"date":"2024-01-16T07:18:07","date_gmt":"2024-01-16T01:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19398"},"modified":"2025-04-05T17:16:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T11:46:30","slug":"ovof","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ovof\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;One Vehicle, One FASTag&#8217; initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About &#8216;One Vehicle, One FASTag&#8217; initiative<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The National Highways Authority of India suggested tagging users to complete\u00a0the Know Your Customer (KYC) process by the end of January 31 to avoid deactivation.<\/li>\n<li>The move aims to enhance the efficiency of the Electronic Toll Collection system and provide seamless movement at the Toll Plazas.<\/li>\n<li>The new arrangement Of \u2018One Vehicle, One FASTag\u2019 has also been introduced to discourage\u00a0user behaviour of using single FASTagfor multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>The initiative had been taken after the recent reports of multiple FASTags being issued for a particular vehicle and FASTags being issued without KYC\u00a0in violation of RBI\u2019s mandate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key points about FASTags<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a device that employs\u00a0Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making\u00a0toll payments directly while the vehicle is in motion.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is a RFID passive tag used for making toll payments directly from the customers linked prepaid or savings\/current account.<\/li>\n<li>It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and enables the customer to drive through toll plazas, without stopping for any toll payments.<\/li>\n<li>The toll fare is directly deducted from the linked account of the customer.<\/li>\n<li>It is also vehicle specific and once it is affixed to a vehicle, it cannot be transferred to another vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>FASTag can be purchased from any of the\u00a0National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) Member Banks.<\/li>\n<li>If a FASTag is linked to the prepaid account, then it needs to be recharged\/ topped-up as per the usage of the customer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Radio frequency ?<\/h3>\n<p>It refers to the rate of oscillation of electromagnetic radio waves in the range of 3 kHz to 300 GHz, as well as the alternating currents carrying the radio signals.
