


{"id":19410,"date":"2024-01-17T08:47:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T03:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19410"},"modified":"2025-04-05T17:21:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T11:51:23","slug":"guru-gobind-singh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/guru-gobind-singh\/","title":{"rendered":"Who was Guru Gobind Singh?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Guru Gobind Singh<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>He was the\u00a010th and last human Guru of the Sikhs.<\/li>\n<li>Born as Gobind Rai on December 22, 1666,\u00a0in Patna, Bihar, Guru Gobind Singh was the\u00a0son of the ninth Guru of Sikhism,\u00a0Guru Teg Bahadur.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He became\u00a0the spiritual and temporal\u00a0leader of the Sikhs on November 11, 1675, at the age of nine,\u00a0following the martyrdom of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur,\u00a0at the hands of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1675.<\/li>\n<li>He was renowned as a\u00a0warrior, a poet, and a prophet.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He is fondly remembered by Sikhs as a defender of the faith and a champion of equality and justice.<\/li>\n<li>Among his\u00a0notable contributions to Sikhism are\u00a0founding the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699.\n<ul>\n<li>He\u00a0introduced the Five Ks, the five\u00a0articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times. These are\u00a0Kesh: uncut hair,\u00a0Kangha: a wooden comb,\u00a0Kara: an iron\u00a0or steel bracelet worn on the wrist,\u00a0Kirpan: a sword, and\u00a0Kacchera: short breeches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Throughout his life, he\u00a0engaged in numerous battles against the Mughal Empire and their allies, totaling 21 battles.\n<ul>\n<li>Some of the notable battles include the Battle of Bhangani, the Battle of Nadaun, the\u00a0Battle of Anandpur, the Battle of Chamkaur, the Battle of Muktsar, and the Battle of Khidrana.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>He\u00a0authored numerous literary works in\u00a0various languages. Among his famous works are\u00a0Jaap Sahib, the\u00a0Tav-Prasad Savaiye, and the\u00a0Benti Chaupai.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He further\u00a0codified Sikh law, wrote martial poetry and music, and was the reputed author of the\u00a0Sikh work called the Dasam Granth (\u201cTenth Volume\u201d).<\/li>\n<li>Guru Gobind Singh\u00a0proclaimed that he was the last of the personal Gurus.\u00a0From that point forward, the\u00a0Sikh Guru was to\u00a0be the holy book,\u00a0the Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh Holy Book).<\/li>\n<li>He was\u00a0assassinated in 1708, at the age of 41.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>His\u00a0birth anniversary is called Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, and his death anniversary is called Guru Gaddi Diwas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Guru Granth Sahib?<\/h3>\n<p>The Guru Granth Sahib, also known as the Adi Granth, is the primary Holy Book of the Sikhs. and is consulted for religious guidance in all aspects of life.
