{"id":19588,"date":"2024-08-29T02:04:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T20:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19588"},"modified":"2025-04-05T18:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T13:05:15","slug":"bprd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bprd\/","title":{"rendered":"Bureau of Police Research and Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&amp;D):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>BPR&amp;D was set up in <strong>1970 under the Ministry of Home Affairs<\/strong> by replacing the Police Research and Advisory Council.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters: New Delhi<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was established with a <strong>mandate to:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Identify<\/strong> the <strong>needs and problems of the police<\/strong> in the country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undertake research projects and studies<\/strong>, and suggest modalities to overcome problems and challenges and <strong>meet the needs<\/strong> and requirements <strong>of the police.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep abreast of<\/strong> the <strong>latest developments in<\/strong> the fields of <strong>science and technology<\/strong>, both in India and abroad, with a view to promoting the use of appropriate technology in police work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Over the years, the BPR&amp;D has also been entrusted with the responsibility of <strong>monitoring the training needs<\/strong> and quality of training in the <strong>States and Central Police Organisations, <\/strong>and providing assistance for the same, as well as <strong>assisting the Statesin<\/strong> the <strong>modernization of the State Police Forces<\/strong> and <strong>Correctional Administration.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>BPR&amp;D has also been tasked to assist the Ministry of Home Affairs and the CPFs, etc., in the <strong>development of Standards, Quality Requirements (QRs), etc<\/strong>., <strong>with respect to<\/strong> various types of <strong>equipment <\/strong>and items pertaining to infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>More recently, the BPR&amp;D has also been entrusted with the responsibility of anchoring and <strong>coordinating the work of the National Police Mission.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Bureau was initially <strong>establishedwith<\/strong> the following <strong>two divisions;
