


{"id":19612,"date":"2024-01-20T03:38:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T22:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19612"},"modified":"2025-04-05T18:45:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T13:15:05","slug":"nagara-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nagara-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Nagara style"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>About the Nagara style<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Nagara architecture is a\u00a0classical architecture of temple design in\u00a0northern India, contrasted with Dravida architecture in southern India.<\/li>\n<li>Nagara temples have a\u00a0shikhara (mountain peak) over the\u00a0garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum), a\u00a0circumambulatory passage around it, and one or more\u00a0mandapas (halls).<\/li>\n<li>Shikhara is a symbolic representation of the\u00a0cosmic order and the\u00a0divine presence.<\/li>\n<li>There are\u00a0five modes of shikhara design:\u00a0Valabhi,\u00a0Phamsana,\u00a0Latina,\u00a0Shekhari, and\u00a0Bhumija.\n<ul>\n<li>Valabhi and Phamsana are\u00a0Early Nagara modes, derived from barrel-roofed wooden structures.<\/li>\n<li>Latina is a single, slightly curved tower with four equal sides, ominant for three centuries.<\/li>\n<li>Shekhari and Bhumija are\u00a0composite Latinas with attached sub-spires or miniature spires, creating a complex and ornate appearance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These modes are\u00a0scholastic classifications, not rigid categories.
