{"id":19628,"date":"2024-01-21T09:41:01","date_gmt":"2024-01-21T04:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19628"},"modified":"2025-04-05T18:51:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T13:21:22","slug":"atal-bhujal-yojna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/atal-bhujal-yojna\/","title":{"rendered":"Atal Bhujal Yojna"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Atal Bhujal Yojna<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Atal Bhujal Yojana is a\u00a0central sector scheme\u00a0which was launched in 2019.<\/li>\n<li>Duration: Period of\u00a05 years (2020-21 to 2024-25), Increased by 2 years\u00a0in May, 2023.<\/li>\n<li>Objective: The major objective of the Scheme is to improve the\u00a0management of groundwater resources in select water stressed areas in identified states.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme is being taken up in\u00a08220 water stressed Gram Panchayats of\u00a0seven states: Haryana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>Scheme components :\u00a0It has two major components:\n<ul>\n<li>Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building Component for strengthening institutional arrangements for sustainable groundwater management in the States including improving monitoring networks, capacity building, strengthening of Water User Associations, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Incentive Component for incentivising the States for achievements in improved groundwater management practices namely, data dissemination, preparation of water security plans, implementation of management interventions through convergence of ongoing schemes, adopting demand side management practices etc.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme is being funded by the\u00a0Government of India and the World Bank on a 50:50 basis.<\/li>\n<li>Total cost of scheme is Rs. 6,000 crore, Out of this, Rs. 3,000 is loan from the World Bank and Rs. 3,000 crore is matching contribution from the Government of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Implemented Ministry:\u00a0Ministry of Jal Shakti.<\/li>\n<li>The key results areas are:\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthened institutional framework and effective ground water data monitoring and disclosure.<\/li>\n<li>Improved planning and implementation of groundwater management interventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the World Bank?<\/h3>\n<p>It is an international financial institution that provides loans and grants to the governments of low and middle-income\/developing countries for the purpose of pursuing capital projects.
