{"id":19773,"date":"2024-01-27T05:04:51","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T23:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19773"},"modified":"2025-04-05T19:49:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T14:19:14","slug":"mai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mai\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an\u00a0export promotion scheme envisaged to act as a catalyst to promote India\u2019s exports on a sustained basis.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The scheme is\u00a0formulated on focus product-focus country approach\u00a0to evolve specific markets and\u00a0specific products through market studies and surveys.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assistance\u00a0would be provided to Export Promotion Organizations\/Trade Promotion Organizations\/National Level Institutions\/ Research Institutions\/Universities\/Laboratories, Exporters etc.,\u00a0for the enhancement of exports through accessing new markets or through increasing their share in the existing markets.<\/li>\n<li>Under the Scheme, the\u00a0level of assistance for each eligible activities has been fixed.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0following activities will be eligible\u00a0for financial assistance under the Scheme:\n<ul>\n<li>Marketing Projects Abroad<\/li>\n<li>Capacity Building<\/li>\n<li>Support for Statutory Compliances<\/li>\n<li>Studies<\/li>\n<li>Project Development<\/li>\n<li>Developing Foreign Trade Facilitation web Portal<\/li>\n<li>To support Cottage and handicrafts units<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Eligible Agencies: Departments of Central Government and Organisation of Central\/State Governments including\n<ul>\n<li>Indian Missions abroad<\/li>\n<li>Export Promotion Councils<\/li>\n<li>Registered\u00a0trade promotion Organisation<\/li>\n<li>Commodity Boards<\/li>\n<li>Apex\u00a0Trade Bodies recognized under Foreign Trade Policy of Govt of India<\/li>\n<li>Recognized\u00a0Industrial &amp;\u00a0Artisan Clusters<\/li>\n<li>Individual Exporters (only for statutory compliance etc.)<\/li>\n<li>National Level Institutions (e.g. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), National Institute of design (NIDs), NIFT etc.)\/ Research Institutions\/Universities\/ Recognized laboratories, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0funding for each project will be\u00a0on cost-sharing basis with the\u00a0sharing pattern ranging from 65% to 50% at the minimum.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0administered by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India,\u00a0through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)?<\/h3>\n<p>This Directorate, with headquarters at New Delhi, is responsible for formulating and implementing the Foreign Trade Policy with the main objective of promoting India&#8217;s exports.
