


{"id":19820,"date":"2024-01-28T09:17:13","date_gmt":"2024-01-28T03:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=19820"},"modified":"2025-04-05T20:07:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T14:37:37","slug":"hazrat-nizamuddin-aulia-dargah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/hazrat-nizamuddin-aulia-dargah\/","title":{"rendered":"Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located <strong>in Delhi&#8217;s<\/strong> Nizamuddin West area.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>mausoleum of<\/strong> the famous <strong>Sufi saint, Nizamuddin Auliya<\/strong> (1238-1325 CE).<\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>built in the 14th Century C.E<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o It consists of a <strong>square chamber surrounded by verandahs<\/strong>, which are pierced by arched openings, while its <strong>roof is surmounted by a dome<\/strong> pringing from an octagonal drum.<\/p>\n<p>o The <strong>dome is ornamented by vertical stripes of black marble<\/strong> and is crowned by a lotus-cresting.<\/p>\n<p>o Inside the dargah complex, one can find the <strong>tombs of Nizamuddin Auliya&#8217;s saints<\/strong>: <strong>Jahanara Begum, Shah Jahan\u2019s favorite daughter<\/strong>, and <strong>poet Amir Khusru<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>o Towards the north side of Dargah, there is a <strong>stepwell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>o On the north-eastern side, there is a <strong>16th-century tomb of Atgah Khan<\/strong>, who was a powerful minister in Emperor Akbar\u2019s court.<\/p>\n<p>o The site is also known for its <strong>evening qawwali devotional music sessions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who was Nizamuddin Auliya?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Syed Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya was one of the most famous <strong>Sufi saints<\/strong> from the Indian subcontinent region.<\/li>\n<li>Also known as <strong>Hazrat Nizamuddin<\/strong> and Mahbub-e-Ilahi (Beloved of God), he was a <strong>Sunni Muslim scholar<\/strong> and <strong>Sufi saint of the Chishti Order.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Like most of the Chishti Sufi saints, Nizamuddin Auliya s<strong>tressed love as a means of realising God.<\/strong> He believed the love of God implied a love of humanity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00b7 Some of the <strong>famous disciples<\/strong> of Nizamuddin include <strong>Shaikh Nasiruddin Chirag Delhavi, Amir Khusro<\/strong>, and the royal poet of the Delhi Sultanate.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is Sufism?<\/h3>\n<p>Sufism represents the inward-looking, mystical dimension of Islam.
