celebrated its 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<h2>About Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the regional group established by signing the Lagos Treaty on the 28th of May\u00a0<strong>1975 in Lagos, Nigeria.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To\u00a0<strong>promote cooperation and integration<\/strong>, leading to the establishment of an\u00a0<strong>economic union in West Africa<\/strong>\u00a0in order to\u00a0<strong>raise the living standards<\/strong>\u00a0of its peoples, and to maintain and enhance economic stability, foster relations-among Member States and contribute to the progress and development of the African continent.<\/li>\n<li>To have a single common currency and create a single, large trading bloc in areas of industry, transport, telecommunications, energy, financial issues, and social and cultural matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Member countries:<\/strong>\u00a0The current Member States of ECOWAS are Benin, Cabo Verde, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, S\u00e9n\u00e9gal and Togo.<\/li>\n<li>On January 29, 2025, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger officially withdrew from ECOWAS.<\/li>\n<li>Along with the goals of economic cooperation, it has attempted to quell military conflicts in the region.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It also
