{"id":20091,"date":"2025-07-20T15:24:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-20T09:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20091"},"modified":"2025-07-21T14:12:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T08:42:47","slug":"ins-sandhayak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ins-sandhayak\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Sandhayak"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>INS Sandhayak Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Indian Navy&#8217;s INS Sandhayak made her maiden port call at Port Klang, Malaysia, for hydrographic cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About INS Sandhayak<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the first of the <\/span><b>indigenously designed and built Sandhayak-class<\/b> <b>hydrographic survey ship<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was commissioned in Feb 2024\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was constructed at <\/span><b>Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (GRSE), Kolkata.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ship has full\u2011scale coastal and deep\u2011water <\/span><b>surveying capacity, oceanographic data collection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is <\/span><b>capable of Search and Rescue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SAR)\/humanitarian operations with onboard helicopter and hospital functions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The primary purpose of the ship is to <\/span><b>conduct comprehensive coastal and deep-water Hydrographic Surveys<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Port and Harbour approaches, as well as determining navigational channels and routes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>operational zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> extends up to <\/span><b>maritime limits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, covering the <\/span><b>Exclusive Economic Zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (EEZ) and extended continental shelf.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its secondary role, the ship can offer <\/span><b>limited defence capabilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and serve as a hospital ship during wartime or emergencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with cutting-edge hydrographic tools, including a Data Acquisition and Processing System, <\/span><b>Autonomous Underwater Vehicle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Remotely Operated Vehicle, DGPS <\/span><b>Long-range positioning systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Digital side-scan sonar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Powered by two diesel engines, the vessel boasts a <\/span><b>speed capability exceeding 18 knots&#8230;.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maiden visit of the ship to port Klang aims at facilitating technical exchanges and strengthening institutional ties via concerted cooperation like sharing of survey technologies and sustained hydrographic support engagements.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2146022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>PIB<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INS Sandhayak is the first of the indigenously designed and built Sandhayak-class hydrographic survey ship.
