{"id":20181,"date":"2025-07-30T12:10:50","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T06:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20181"},"modified":"2025-10-14T17:05:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T11:35:54","slug":"mera-gaon-mera-dharohar-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mera-gaon-mera-dharohar-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central government has so far documented the cultural heritage of over 4.7 lakh villages under the \u2018Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar\u2019 (MGMD) initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a pan-India initiative of the Ministry<\/span><b> of Culture under <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-mission-for-cultural-mapping\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Mission on Cultural Mapping<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and was launched on 27th July 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0It was launched <\/span><b>as part of \u2018Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav\u2019.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main objective of the project is to culturally map India&#8217;s 6.5 lakh villages, spanning across all States and\u00a0 Union Territories, on a comprehensive virtual platform.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The core idea behind this project is to <\/span><b>encourage appreciation for India&#8217;s culture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and traditions, paving way for economic growth, social harmony, and artistic development in rural communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed at mapping India\u2019s <\/span><b>intangible cultural assets.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme is being implemented by the <\/span><b>Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the MGMD, information is collected under seven broad categories as given below-<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arts and Crafts Village<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ecologically Oriented Village<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scholastic Village linked with Textual and Scriptural Traditions of India<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Epic Village linked with Ramayana, Mahabharata and\/or Puranic legends and oral epics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historical Village linked with Local and National History<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Architectural Heritage Village<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any other characteristic that may need highlighting such as fishing village, horticulture village, shepherding village etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/ddnews.gov.in\/en\/over-4-7-lakh-villages-documented-under-mera-gaon-meri-dharohar-cultural-mapping-initiative-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dd news<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mera Gaon Mera Dharohar programme is a pan-India initiative of the Ministry of Culture under National Mission on Cultural Mapping and was launched on 27th July 2023.
