{"id":20229,"date":"2024-02-08T09:46:26","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T04:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20229"},"modified":"2025-04-05T23:14:50","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T17:44:50","slug":"sspca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sspca\/","title":{"rendered":"Support to Students for Participating in Competitions Abroad (SSPCA) Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Support to Students for Participating in Competitions Abroad (SSPCA) Initiative<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is\u00a0an initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education\u00a0(AICTE) aimed at bolstering the\u00a0global competitiveness of Indian students in technical education.<\/li>\n<li>It is designed to\u00a0financially support students aspiring\u00a0to compete in international scientific events.<\/li>\n<li>Financial Assistance and Mentorship:\n<ul>\n<li>Under the SSPCA scheme,\u00a0individual students or student teams are eligible to receive\u00a0travel grants\u00a0to partake in international competitions.<\/li>\n<li>The assistance\u00a0encompasses financial aid, mentorship, logistical support, and\u00a0networking opportunities, enabling students to represent India on a global platform effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Financial aid provided by the AICTE scheme\u00a0reaches up to Rs 2 lakh per student, covering various expenses like international and domestic travel, registration fees, visa applications, accommodation, airport taxes, travel insurance, and equipment costs related to the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility:\n<ul>\n<li>Eligibility extends to\u00a0students enrolled in diploma, BE\/BTech, integrated MTech, and ME\/MTech programs\u00a0in AICTE-approved institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Each team of students\u00a0is eligible for financial support under the scheme\u00a0once during their course of study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the\u00a0statutory body and the\u00a0national-level council for technical education in the country.<\/li>\n<li>It was set up in 1945 as an advisory body and later, in 1987, given statutory status by an Act of Parliament.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Functions:\n<ul>\n<li>It\u00a0grants approval for\u00a0starting\u00a0new technical institutions,\u00a0for the introduction of new courses, and for\u00a0variations in intake capacity in technical institutions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The AICTE has\u00a0delegated to\u00a0the concerned\u00a0state governments powers to process and\u00a0grant approval for new institutions,\u00a0starting new courses and\u00a0variations in the intake capacity for diploma-level technical institutions.<\/li>\n<li>It also\u00a0lays down norms and standards for such institutions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It also ensures the quality development of technical education through the\u00a0accreditation of technical institutions or programmes.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to its regulatory role, the AICTE also has a\u00a0promotional role, which it implements\u00a0through schemes for promoting technical education for women, handicapped, and weaker sections of society promoting innovations, faculty, research and development, and\u00a0giving grants to technical institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0technical institutions under the AICTE\u00a0include post-graduate, under-graduate,\u00a0and\u00a0diploma programs in the whole spectrum of technical education, covering engineering\/technology, pharmacy, architecture, hotel management and catering technology, management studies, computer applications, and applied arts and crafts.<\/li>\n<li>The AICTE has its\u00a0headquarters in New Delhi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Technical Education?<\/h3>\n<p>Technical Education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people.
