{"id":20351,"date":"2024-02-11T02:12:06","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T20:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20351"},"modified":"2025-04-06T00:45:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T19:15:09","slug":"frozen-smoke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/frozen-smoke\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Frozen smoke?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Frozen smoke<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The frozen smoke, technically known\u00a0as aerogel, is an extraordinary material.<\/li>\n<li>It was originally developed in the 1930s.<\/li>\n<li>The name aerogel comes from the combination of the Greek word \u201caero\u201d, meaning air, and \u201cgel\u201d, since aerogels are derived from gels.<\/li>\n<li>It is hailed as a\u00a0miracle material.<\/li>\n<li>Properties\n<ul>\n<li>Aerogel can claim a\u00a0low density, high thermal resistivity and a highly\u00a0porous structure.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The texture of aerogel is\u00a0similar to a fine, dry sponge, but feels much lighter<\/li>\n<li>In fact, aerogel holds the record as the lightest solid in the world.<\/li>\n<li>When pressed softly, aerogel will return to its original form, but when pressed harder, a dimple forms. Put aerogel under too much pressure, however, and it will shatter like glass into many tiny pieces.<\/li>\n<li>They are composed mostly of air and can be\u00a0used to remove contaminants.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is Formaldehyde?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a common\u00a0Volatile organic compound (VOC) and is emitted by household items including pressed wood products (such as MDF), wallpapers and paints, and some synthetic fabrics.<\/li>\n<li>For the most part, the levels of formaldehyde emitted by these items are low, but levels can build up over time.<\/li>\n<li>Formaldehyde can lead to serious\u00a0health problems with prolonged exposure even at low concentrations,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)?<\/h3>\n<p>These are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects.
