{"id":20408,"date":"2025-12-19T11:21:42","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T05:51:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20408"},"modified":"2025-12-20T13:33:45","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T08:03:45","slug":"ttdf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ttdf\/","title":{"rendered":"Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development recently said that as of 10.12.2025, 136 projects amounting to Rs 542.22 crores have been approved under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Scheme to different IITs, NITs, MSMEs, startups, and research institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>flagship scheme <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the <\/span><b>Department of Telecommunications (DoT)<\/b> <b>launched <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <\/span><b>2022<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>fund <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research and development (<\/span><b>R&amp;D) in rural-specific communication technology applications.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>encourages collaboration among academia, startups, research institutes, and industry <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stakeholders to drive innovation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme provides <\/span><b>milestone-based financial assistance to eligible entities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ensuring ease of compliance and adequate funding.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It supports the development of state-of-the-art telecom solutions in <\/span><b>key sectors <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">such as <\/span><b>education, agriculture, health, and water management.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Funding <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the scheme is<\/span><b> provided through the Digital Bharat Nidhi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (formerly known as the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF)).<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It facilitates the development, pilot testing, and <\/span><b>adoption of new telecom technologies, particularly for deployment in rural and remote areas.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Eligibility Criteria for TTDF:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Domestic Company<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ies) <\/span><b>with a focus on telecom R&amp;D<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Use case development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Startups\/<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/msme\/\" target=\"_blank\">MSMEs<\/a><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Academic institutions.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>R&amp;D institutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Section 8 companies\/<\/span><b>societies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Central &amp; State government entities\/PSUs\/Autonomous Bodies\/SPVs\/Limited liability partnerships-<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a focus on telecom R&amp;D.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Collaborative consortium of the above entities.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>For Pilots:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>above entities may partner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, inter alia, <\/span><b>with PSUs, TSPs, Central\/State Government entities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, government autonomous bodies, SPVs, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>For Pilot application:<\/b> <b>Minimum Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 is required.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Some exclusions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also exist:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Domestic companies receiving grants<\/b> <b>must maintain their \u2018Domestic Company\u2019 status for at least two years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after project completion.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>If a foreign investor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or foreign Successor-in-Interest <\/span><b>acquires a majority stake in the company within two years post-project,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they <\/span><b>must repay double the grant <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amount.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Expenditures on items like land and buildings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>not eligible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the fund.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preference is given to projects with minimum TTRLs, so very <\/span><b>early-stage or theoretical research without clear application may be excluded.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2206005&amp;reg=1&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) Scheme is a flagship scheme of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) launched in 2022.
