{"id":20596,"date":"2025-12-07T13:10:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T07:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20596"},"modified":"2025-12-08T16:15:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:45:16","slug":"pmfme-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pmfme-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stating that Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme has steadily expanded its reach, the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries recently said that major components of the scheme have made notable progress as of 31 October 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Launched on June 29, 2020, PMFMPE is a <\/span><b>Centrally Sponsored<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Scheme by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Food Processing Industries.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed to <\/span><b>address the challenges faced by micro-enterprises<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and to <\/span><b>tap the potential of groups and cooperatives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to support the <\/span><b>upgradation and formalization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of these enterprises.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Objectives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To build the capability of microenterprises to enable:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Increased access to credit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by existing micro food processing entrepreneurs, FPOs, self-help groups, and co-operatives.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Integration with an organized supply chain<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by strengthening <\/span><b>branding &amp; marketing.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Support for the transition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of existing 200,000 enterprises <\/span><b>into a formal framework.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Increased access to common services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like common <\/span><b>processing facilities, laboratories, storage,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> packaging, marketing, and incubation services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Strengthening of institutions, research, and training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the food processing sector; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increased access for enterprises to <\/span><b>professional and technical support.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Outlay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme envisages an outlay of <\/span><b>\u20b9 10,000 crores<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over a period of <\/span><b>five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>expenditure <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the scheme would be <\/span><b>shared in a 60:40 ratio between Central and State Governments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in a 90:10 ratio with the Northeastern and the Himalayan States, a 60:40 ratio with UTs with the legislature, and 100% by the Center for other UTs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Coverage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>2,00,000 micro food processing units <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be directly assisted with <\/span><b>credit-linked subsidies.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adequate,<\/span><b> supportive common infrastructure and institutional architecture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be <\/span><b>supported <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to accelerate the growth of the sector.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Benefits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The program has <\/span><b>four broad components<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> addressing the needs of the sector:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support to individuals and groups of micro-enterprises.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Branding and Marketing support.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support the strengthening of institutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setting up a robust project management framework.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Financial Support:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Support to Individual Micro Units:<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Micro enterprises<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will get a <\/span><b>credit-linked subsidy at 35% of the eligible project cost <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a<\/span><b> ceiling of Rs.10 lakh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Beneficiary contribution <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be a <\/span><b>minimum of 10%, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> balance from the loan.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>On-site skill training &amp; Handholding for DPR <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>technical upgradation.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Support to FPOs\/SHGs\/Cooperatives:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Seed capital <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be given to SHGs (@Rs. 4 lakh per SHG) <\/span><b>for loans to members for working capital and small tools.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Credit-linked capital subsidy at 35% subject to a maximum of Rs. 3 crore, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to support FPOs, SHGs, cooperatives, and any Government agency for setting up common infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Grant up to 50% for branding and marketing to groups of FPOs\/ SHGs\/Cooperatives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or an SPV of micro food processing enterprises.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Skill training &amp;
