{"id":20608,"date":"2024-02-18T08:34:53","date_gmt":"2024-02-18T03:04:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20608"},"modified":"2025-04-06T02:27:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-05T20:57:15","slug":"india-stack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/india-stack\/","title":{"rendered":"What is India Stack?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About India Stack<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a set of\u00a0Application Programming Interface (APIs) that allows governments, businesses, startups and developers to utilise a unique digital Infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>India Stack consists of three layers of open APIs:\u00a0identity, payments, and data.<\/li>\n<li>Although the name of this project bears the word India, the vision of India Stack is not limited to one country.<\/li>\n<li>It can be applied to any nation, be it a developed one or an emerging one.<\/li>\n<li>The four distinct technology layers provided are\n<ul>\n<li>Presenceless layer: Where a universal biometric digital identity allows people to participate in any service from anywhere in the country.<\/li>\n<li>Paperless layer: Where digital records move with an individual&#8217;s digital identity, eliminating the need for massive amount of paper collection and storage.<\/li>\n<li>Cashless layer: Where a single interface to all the country&#8217;s bank accounts and wallets to democratize payments.<\/li>\n<li>Consent layer: Which allows data to move freely and securely to democratize the market for data?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Some of the APIs that are a central part of India Stack: Aadhaar Proof, Aadhaar e-KYC, e-Sign, Digital Locker, Unified Payment Interface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is API?<\/h3>\n<p>It stands for Application Programming Interface. In the context of APIs, the word Application refers to any software with a distinct function. Interface can be thought of as a contract of service between two applications.
